Band Biography:

The Band was originally a 3 piece Pop-Punk band with a different line up, But after their first demo tape came out, and they played a few shows, Chris (bass) and Nicholas (drums) decided to kick out the guitar player for personal reasons. A few singles and an EP later, Nicholas and Chris gradually split ways, still on good terms. No bad blood grew between the 2 friends, But Nicholas grew more involved in other things. (Nicholas now runs a solo electronic/pop punk project titled "ThisCityMustFall".) Thus Suicide By Spoon became a solo project, originally intended as alternative, But as tragedy struck with the death of his girlfriend, and other past incidents, Chris fell into a deep state of depression, along with drug addictions, He was found with numerous syringes and cuts along his wrists. He was convicted into a mental recovery institution at age 15. But after much extensive therapy, rehabilitation, and isolation, Chris returned a new person, Having finally forgiven himself for his girlfriend's death. Over this time, most of his work had grown darker, heavier, and stranger, Being in a solo project also taught him to play all his own instruments, Which is a contributing factor to why he composes nearly all of SBS' songs. During this time, martin and his younger brother Nick played in a Ska/Pop-Punk band. This band had no bassist, and any drumming was electronic (made by Nick). But as the boys grew older, this band gradually became inactive. Chris and Martin had been childhood friends, They played in a band briefly with the drummer, Adam during the 6th grade. but they had moved away from eachother, thus making the band defunct. Adam had also grown busy in other matters, and attended a private school. But at the end of Highschool in the 11th grade, Martin and his brother had moved back to town. Adam had also switched from private school and started attending WL. Seaton. They were ecstatic, They had played together in the past, and both had experimented much since. Chris had become a new person musically, having experienced tragedy in the past 5 years, Where as Martin had given up his Ska/Pop-Punk days and become more experimental. With Chris on Bass, and Brothers Martin and Nick on Guitars, they just needed a drummer. Chris contacted the drummer from his old band with Martin, Adam. The response was an immediate yes, the four had all met, and been friends, But had never been assembled in one band (aside from a few jam sessions). They imediately started work on their first full album with this line up, Playing numerous live shows and promoting the CD, the band grew popular locally. The album, "The Horror of Symmetry" Which is a combination of the four different members influences. Chris had brought most the darker feelings into play with tracks built from past experiences, But the other membershad contributed their influences and skill into the mix, Such as the electronic sections from Adam, a Poppy Ska sound from Nick, And melodic leads composed and tweaked by Martin himself. Shortly after the release of the Album, The band went on their first tour with this line up. Touring with Bands ThisCityMustFall, Traced Hatred, and Forget the Fallen, This bands first tour was a huge success, gaining popularity, fans, and leading up to the Bands signing to Cookies & Biscuits Records. Shortly after though, mid-tour Chris had been experiencing some personal issues, and left the band. They remained with ThisCityMustFall's bassist on live support. After the tour they went on hiatus, it wasn't the same without the founder, Chris. During this time Chris had kept music out of his life and tried to finish school. Here he met the love of his life, who had also been suffering from depression. Together they overcame their struggles and Chris came back to the band, ultimately ending their hiatus. Suicide By Spoon was restored. His girlfriend is also the bands personal photographer and manager. There is rumored to be a 6 track DEMO EP titled "Lucid Simplicity" composed by the band as well from their jam sessions in the past. Supposedly only 400 copies of this rare CD came out, But the CD's existence is still a questionable matter, none of the members have denied it's existence, nor have they supported it. The Band has also started work on their second full length album, But there is little information on this release to be found. In an interview with Martin and Adam, Martin stated: "The Album will have 12 tracks, and be like nothing you've heard from us before." The tentative release date is set for sometime in 2011.
