SPANKY REVOLUTION IS: John - GUITAR Étienne - DRUMS Éric - BASS Steve - GUITAR THE BAND: The story started as a two-piece band in 2001 in Saint-Rédempteur, Québec, nammed "The Lions" with Étienne and Éric, both 15 years old, after listening to "Is This It" from The Strokes. Éric was playing guitar at the time. In 2003, the two friends got in separate ways for college, and Étienne met Steve in a band they formed with two other members. They went in numerous fights, as Étienne would only have a real connection with Steve in this band. Étienne actually found the name "Spanky Revolution" for this band. Meanwhile, Éric felt in love with bass and had numerous failed bands where he was playing guitar or bass. In 2006, Étienne and Éric met back in University and decided to re-form a band. Looking for a guitarist, they turned to take back Steve. They met John for the first time while he was still playing with "Weedz", the successfull California punk band, in 2008 at the Vana's when Spanky Revolution was opening for them. John admit they were not the best musicians technically, but that they had the intensity and the balls that not enough punk bands could spread. Sadly, Weedz was getting more and more intern probelm and one by one, the members would fall in harder drugs. They therefore broke up in April 2009. Meanwhile, Spanky Revolution entered in studio and released with little to no cash "SnR" and then "Here Comes the Revolution". Before the release of this last album, the trio decided to slam the door of their record label to found a new one with the guys of Leoshi, "Cookies & Biscuits Records". In order to get a new sound with the "second POM era" that appeared in early 2010, Éric decided to leave rythm guitar for bass. While not giving too much time working on their third album, the band still recorded songs from time to time. This is when they called John, back from retox, to appear as guess guitarist on "It's All About the Smile". The chemistry was so good, they had no choice but to keep John with them. While taking care of the record label and barely starting working on "Racing the Sunset", Étienne started writing songs for a solo project. In last minute though, the other members of Spanky Revolution decided to take part of the project and perform guitars and bass for Étienne's album, which exlains why it is considered to be a "Spanky Revolution" release. The album, "Tonight Is the Night", got great critics and won the Cookies & Biscuits Awards prize for "Best concept album" the same year. Racing the Sunset went out in September, though it receved mixed critics, so they worked even harder for their second "POM2 styled" album, "We Won't Die" that was a huge step forward for the band's career. The album featured the smash hits "Snow on Manhattan (Never Drop my Hand)", "Riot" and "Anthem", a song written by all the members of the band at the same time. They are actually in studio for a new album, "Poneycore", that should come out in May. They so far released two POM2 long play, three singles, three music videos, produced many artists and are considered as one of the most "true" bands of the POM2 era. THE MEMBERS Étienne He might be the drummer, but he is considered as the leader of the band. He writes a lot for the band and is the realisator of all the music videos of the band so far. His songs are usually darker, more rock, (You Wanna Sink, Rome Is Burning) but with always a little punk touch and a bright side. He also wrote "Riot". He used to take more place in the bands' composition until Racing the Sunset. He also is the main administrator of Cookies & Biscuits Records. He is one of the most influencing business man when it comes to rock music. He is also a huge sports fan, especially with the Montreal Canadiens. He is in relationship with Jenna, also known as "The Brunette", that is the official photographer of the band. Éric Éric writes a lot of songs as well. He is the one behind "Snow on Manhattan", the band's most known ballad. He can also write some punker songs like "Jump ont the Train" or "It's All About the Smile". The fact he knows guitar and bass a lot for having spent a lot of years performing both instruments makes him a really good composer and often helps Étienne writing songs. He also designs the album covers of the band, except for Tonight Is the Night and Racing the Sunset (The band called a good friend of them, Jod, to make these). He likes the Canadiens as well, but prefers art over sports. He is in relationship with Malika, that he met at first in University. She is the one appearing on the cover of "Snow On Manhattan". The song actually was written for her. Steve The punkiest, hardest songs are Steve's fault. He wrote "Bleed, ****** Bleed" and "Rick James Was a Classy Man" to only say these ones. His aggressive guitar riffs on rythm guitar are one of his signature, though he can also play lead guitar on few tracks, like "Rome Is Burning" and in some collaborations. He used to have behaviour problems, and actually got kicked out of few schools in high school, but learned to manage his anger with time and to kick it in his songs On stage, he is the first one to jump on walls and climb amps. He implicates himself a lot in politics and does not hesitate to get down the streets to express his anger against the government. Ladies: he is single! He dated tons of girls and don't mind to bring few groupies to his hotel rooms... John His thing his ska and upbeat (Chromatic Milkshake, Blasting Off the Sun, Tout Doit Brûler, etc.) He is the oldest member of the band (He was born in 1983 while the other members where born in 1985-86), but he is also the most experimented member He reached fame with his first band "Weedz" (2003-2009) but felt into drugs way harder than weed. He went in detox though and never touched any of these since then. He mostly plays the lead guitar, though he likes to play rythm (chorus of Anthem and few double rythm guitars parts in some songs) He also is the only member of the band that is not from Québec (he is actually jaleous of the free health care system) but he is still proud of his californian roots. He is also known for being an awesome man in the kitchen. He likes to eat and to create great food. He is maried with Marie, a childhood friend that helped him a lot through his detox, since February 2010.
